I am honored to be chosen to lead Hillcrest Elementary as your principal for a second year. It is with great admiration and respect for this great community and its achievements l that I continue the mission that has been started while encouraging students and staff to grow as a community of learners. It is my goal to make Hillcrest Elementary School one of the top schools in the region. I look forward to serving you as we help set the foundation of successful students. This is my 4th year serving Burke County Public Schools and my second year as a principal, so I look forward to learning and growing with students and staff. My previous administrative experience was at Robert L. Patton High School as assistant principal of curriculum and instruction. Prior to administration, I worked for Caldwell County Schools from 2005-2018 as both a middle and high school teacher of social studies and English Language Arts.
I am an Ohio native and graduate of Malone University in Canton, Ohio where I obtained my undergraduate degree in education. As a lifelong learner, I initially obtained a master’s degree in English Language Arts from Appalachian State University (go Mountaineers) in 2008 and later went back to the same institution for an additional add-on licensure and pursued a Graduate Certificate in School Leadership in 2018. I hold National Board Certification in Young Adolescent English Language Arts (grades 6-9). I have lived in North Carolina and worked for the state for the last seventeen years and love the region in which I live. I currently reside in the Baton Community with my husband and two school-age girls.
I am humbled by the warm welcome I have received from the Hillcrest community. I have an open door policy and look forward to the opportunity to meet with you and build strong partnerships to provide your students with the best education possible.
